Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Who can learn with us?

Children and adults are welcome, from complete beginners to advanced pianists. Children usually start from around age five; we discuss each child’s readiness and choose a suitable lesson length together.

Can I try a lesson?

An introductory lesson costs £30 for 30 minutes, online or in person, with no obligation to continue. View lesson fees.

Do I need a piano at home?

Regular access to a piano or keyboard lets you practise between lessons. An acoustic piano or an 88-key weighted digital piano is ideal; a touch-sensitive keyboard can be a temporary starting point.

How much should I practise?

Beginners can start with 10–15 minutes on most days. Your teacher will help you build a manageable practice routine and agree any books with you before you buy them.

Where can lessons take place?

We offer online lessons, lessons at our teaching space and home visits, subject to availability. See Lessons & Fees for locations, instruments and the online setup.

Booking and lesson changes

How often are lessons?

Weekly lessons are the usual starting point. Fortnightly or flexible arrangements can also be discussed. Lessons are available during school holidays, with dates agreed in advance.

How do I book and pay?

Send an enquiry using the form above or by email. Before you book, we will confirm your teacher, level, lesson arrangements, dates, total fees and terms by email. Regular lessons are paid monthly in advance by bank transfer for the agreed dates.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please give at least three clear working days’ notice. See our lesson terms for late cancellations and emergencies.

What if my teacher cancels?

You can choose a suitable replacement lesson, a credit or a refund.

Children and parents

Can parents and carers stay during children’s lessons?

Parents and carers are welcome to join. A responsible adult must be present throughout home visits for under-18s. For online lessons with under-18s, a parent or carer must remain nearby. We agree arrangements for under-18s, including in-person arrival and collection, with a parent or carer.

How do I raise a safeguarding concern?

Email safeguarding@klavierquavers.uk. Read our safeguarding information for further guidance.
